Public Works Safety Training
Annual OSHA training with a quiz per module, printable certificates, automatic yearly reassignment, email reminders, and incident reporting with a proper investigation record. Built for a municipal public works department with electric, environmental, and public services divisions.
The problem it solves
Public works crews have to complete the same OSHA training every year, and someone has to prove it. In most departments that proof is a spreadsheet, a binder of sign-in sheets, and a supervisor who remembers to ask. Incident reports go in a drawer and the investigation, if it happens, is not written down anywhere a future auditor can find it.
This platform puts training, quizzes, certificates, reminders, and incident records in one place that a small department can actually run, either in a browser with nothing to install or on a server the department controls.
What it does
- Twelve training modulesOne for each of OSHA's ten most frequently cited standards, plus Pole Top Rescue and Bucket Truck (Aerial Lift) Rescue for electric and public services crews. Written for public works, with division-specific examples.
- A quiz for every moduleTen questions, 80 percent to pass (configurable), retakes allowed, every attempt recorded, and a printable certificate on completion.
- Truly annualWhen an employee passes, next year's assignment is created automatically, due twelve months later.
- Email remindersThirty days before training is due, again at seven days, and every seven days once it is overdue. Supervisors are notified when their people complete a module.
- Incident reportingPersonal injury, property damage, and vehicle incidents, including near misses, with the fields each type needs: body part and OSHA recordability, estimated cost, unit number, seat belt use, and more.
- Investigation that has to be finishedDirect cause, root cause, contributing factor type, lessons learned, and corrective actions with an owner and a date. An incident cannot be closed until the causes are recorded.
- Printable reportsIncident reports with signature lines, certificates, and a compliance matrix of every employee and every course, with CSV export.
- Access by roleEmployees see what they reported, supervisors see their division and team, safety administrators see everything.

Keeping the content current
The module list follows OSHA's annual list of most frequently cited standards. The ranking lives in one data file and is updated once a year; each module is a plain text file an administrator can edit and reload without a developer.
